If you’re referring to the dukes of hazard, that took place in Georgia. Wrong say buddy.

My 2500 silverado does my talking 100k miles in 4.5 years.
that won’t stop you and Bo from chasing Boss Hog around the woods of Bugtussle, in the General Lee getting your 8 miles to the gallon….now will it?
Well I’m a Republican and I ride my bike to work and have began to research solar panels, but my reasons are entirely meant to save me money
i tend to think very few.
You are not keeping up with your hippy culture.
The modern hippy no longer needs to live by the rules he expects the government to ram down yours and my throat. These rules are for peasants.
The enlightened hippy merely buys a “carbon offset”, available from hippy icon Al Gore.
These are like the medieval papal indulgences; they allowed Catholics of yore to keep on sinning as long as they paid the pope. Same with carbon offsets; they can keep their private jets as long as they pay the pope of the religion of environmentalism, Al Gore.
I don’t see it actually happening any time soon..they have been talking about it since the seventies.
If you are buying, I will certainly get my sons to install them and use them.
I’m gonna refit for solar and I hope a lot of people do. You would think conservatives would want more freedom from the grid and lower cost energy….Oh yeah they just want to **** the oil teat and buy solar stocks. Just think… a million or more ***** all in a race and you won, go figure….. Every BTU on earth originates with the sun and you think using this constant resource is a far fetched scheme? Please refer to the ***** analogy again sparky. Did you know you can use solar to cook moonshine sparky?
In 2024, when experts agree the world will have no more oil, it won’t be just ‘hippies’ who are putting solar panels on their houses. Watch the news or read every once in a while.
If you think solar energy is a far fetched scheme why don’t you go back to school or get your GED.
I take public transportation or take a bike, I might consider getting a scooter but I don’t drive if I can help it. If I was forced to drive, it would be a hybrid.
I wouldn’t be against solar panels and it’s something I’d considered. The six months of cold and snow probably make such a solution sub-optimal and I’d have to consider how long it would take the initial cost to pay for itself. I do use neon bulbs because they are more energy efficient.
Not many. I work near and in the peoples republic of davis, Ca.
Hypocrites all. Until we embrace Nuclear power and start drill in Alaska or anyplace we can Liberal doo doo head are going to win. Electric power is produced by Hydro (great but you have to approve new dams) and mostly by fossil fuels. How do electric cars save carbine emissions?
p. s. global “warming” is a natural cycle uninterrupted by man.
Those of us that can afford solar panels Have installed them as as a way to cut down our utility bills & those of us that live close enough to be able to ride a bike to work do just that. Those that do not drive motorcycles weather permitting or drive vehicles that getr decent gas mileage
Solar panels and an on-grid system like… Clint Eastwood’s?
Still a bit expensive and there are new solar cell films coming out that will make it more affordable.
I figure such a system has the following advantages:
Whole-house UPS
Sell excess energy back to provider (Tennessee law means you get only 15 cents a kilowatt, but if you aren’t using it…).
If you did it right this second, however, it would take 20 years to pay for itself, so I am waiting for the cheaper films.
Sure beats paying $3.55 a gallon on gas… If people were smart they’d think twice about driving. Lets see, I probably used to fill up about 3 times a month. My car has about a 13 gallon tank. So at $3.55/gallon, thats about $138.45 per month. I now take light rail 3 days a week and fill up once a month. So $3 a week for light rail (about $12 per month) plus about $46.15 comes to about $58.15 a month. I save about $80.30 a month. And apparently I (being a “liberal”) am not good with my money? I can do a lot with that extra $80 per month.
Hah. More like cranking down the a.c. in the summer and cranking up the heat in the winter, inbetween trips in private jets from one end of the world to the other. Work? I guess interviewing housekeepers, nannies, and personal assistants is work.
Al Gore: The Occidental Millionairre
Most hippies spend too much money on weed to afford solar panels. :P
This is actually one of the best things that a person could do, not only for the planet, but also for themselves. If I could afford it, and owned my own home, instead of renting, I would be one of the first ones in line. As far as riding bikes to work, I would rather have some kind of alternative energy car, or an electric car, than ride a bike. Bikes are good exercise, but they definitely have their drawbacks. *sm*
Well, I’m a grad student and live in an apartment. But I take public transportation–I’m fortunate in that I live a short walk from a subway.
That saves me about $6000 a year. Sadly,, thanks to collusion between special interests and (mostly “conservative” government) most Americans are DENIED the choice to do anything but drive a car. That’s a CHOICE that people in every ther industrialized country take for granted.
Now, since the landlord won’t let me put up solar panels, i’ve done the next best thing: put in weatherstripping, sealed the windows, switched to CFLs, etc. That’s saving about $1000 a year.
These things help the environment. And I not only save a lot of money, I spend less time in traffic. My point–being environmentally aware and taking steps to cut energy use doesn’t have to reduce one’s lifestyle. But it does save a great deal of money.
In other words, “going green” is just showing good financial sense. And THAT, dear friend, is why the neoconservatives are a laughingstock on environmental issues. It all comes down to money. And that means the oil lovers are doomed. No one with a brain in their head, liberal or conservative, is going to keep wasting money on outmoded 19th century technology.
I got tricked into a sub-prime home equity loan to do just that!
But I ended up using the money to buy a Hummer.
OOPS!
Does anyone else hear banjos playing???
I’m not. I’m a liberal, but I’ve done my research and I’ve looked at both sides of the argument. my conclusions were that there is much more scientific proof reinforcing the theory that humans have no effect on climate change, so that is what i believe
I didn’t know burn out hippies had jobs
About as many as you conservative YA chickenhawks are going to enlist first thing in the morning and go fight in iraq. Let me know when you ship out for baghdad?
