I'm not. I'm a liberal, but I've done my research and I've looked at both sides of the argument. my conclusions were that there is much more scientific proof reinforcing the theory that humans have no effect on climate change, so that is what i believe

I got tricked into a sub-prime home equity loan to do just that!

But I ended up using the money to buy a Hummer.

OOPS!

Well, I'm a grad student and live in an apartment. But I take public transportation--I'm fortunate in that I live a short walk from a subway.

That saves me about $6000 a year. Sadly,, thanks to collusion between special interests and (mostly "conservative" government) most Americans are DENIED the choice to do anything but drive a car. That's a CHOICE that people in every ther industrialized country take for granted.

Now, since the landlord won't let me put up solar panels, i've done the next best thing: put in weatherstripping, sealed the windows, switched to CFLs, etc. That's saving about $1000 a year.

These things help the environment. And I not only save a lot of money, I spend less time in traffic. My point--being environmentally aware and taking steps to cut energy use doesn't have to reduce one's lifestyle. But it does save a great deal of money.

In other words, "going green" is just showing good financial sense. And THAT, dear friend, is why the neoconservatives are a laughingstock on environmental issues. It all comes down to money. And that means the oil lovers are doomed. No one with a brain in their head, liberal or conservative, is going to keep wasting money on outmoded 19th century technology.

This is actually one of the best things that a person could do, not only for the planet, but also for themselves. If I could afford it, and owned my own home, instead of renting, I would be one of the first ones in line. As far as riding bikes to work, I would rather have some kind of alternative energy car, or an electric car, than ride a bike. Bikes are good exercise, but they definitely have their drawbacks. *sm*

Hah. More like cranking down the a.c. in the summer and cranking up the heat in the winter, inbetween trips in private jets from one end of the world to the other. Work? I guess interviewing housekeepers, nannies, and personal assistants is work.

Sure beats paying $3.55 a gallon on gas... If people were smart they'd think twice about driving. Lets see, I probably used to fill up about 3 times a month. My car has about a 13 gallon tank. So at $3.55/gallon, thats about $138.45 per month. I now take light rail 3 days a week and fill up once a month. So $3 a week for light rail (about $12 per month) plus about $46.15 comes to about $58.15 a month. I save about $80.30 a month. And apparently I (being a "liberal") am not good with my money? I can do a lot with that extra $80 per month.
